Dear friends and colleagues!

It is our pleasure to invite you to the LS2 Annual Meeting 2019 with the topic "Cell Biology from Tissue to Nucleus", held on February 14-15, 2019 at the Irchel Campus of the University of Zurich. The LS2 Annual Meeting brings together scientists from all nations and backgrounds to explore the large spectrum united under the umbrella of Life Sciences

  • Public Panel discussion: "Is merit (gender) biased? Advancement in academia."

  • Career Lunch Session by Career Services at the University of Zurich
  • The popular Postdoc contest "PIs of Tomorrow" where the best future projects from diverse disciplines are being showcased.
  • Two dedicated poster sessions with 150+ posters presented by promising young scientists who can enter the competition for various poster prizes
  • A large industry exhibition with 30+ industry partners
  • As every year, the winner of the Friedrich-Miescher Award and the Lelio Orci Award will be honored in a special ceremony

*BSc/MSc students*
We do not only offer an informative session on opportunities in and outside the academic world, but also offer the first 20 to register 50 CHF to support their registration fee and travels to the meeting!

*PhD students*
...can meet their peers at the poster and Apéro session and win one of the prestigious poster prizes (worth up to 500 CHF). In addition to the poster sessions, long and flash talks selected from abstracts will be embedded in the scientific symposia.

Prof. Jean-Claude Martinou wins the Lelio Orci Award 2018!

Jean-Claude Martinou has been attributed the Lelio Orci Award 2018 for his work on the control of mitochondrial organisation and physiology. 

The official award ceremony will take place on 15 February 2019 at our LS2 Annual Meeting 2019.

We celebrate our 50 years anniversary!

Happy 2019 to you all!

LS2 turns 50 and we want to celebrate it with all our members during the LS2 Annual Meeting 2019. All participants are invited to join the big Jubilee Apéro, which will take place on 14 February (18:30 - 20:30).

Do not forget that on-site registration to the meeting is still possible!

Bernd Bodenmiller wins the Friedrich-Miescher-Award 2019!

Bernd Bodenmiller has been selected to receive the prestigious Friedrich Miescher Award 2019 for his research at the Institute of Molecular Life Sciences of the University of Zurich. The prize, awarded by the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel, is Switzerland's highest distinction for young scientists performing outstanding research in the field of biochemistry.

The official award ceremony will take place on 14 February 2019 at our LS2 Annual Meeting 2019.

Accreditation of the meeting for continuous education in the field of animal experimentation

We requested the accreditation for continuous education in the field of animal experimentation by the Veterinary Offices with the abstracts that we will get for this conference. Abstracts will be treated confidentially.

During abstract submission, you were therefore asked to provide a short statement about the animal model used and how your project fulfills one or more of the 3R principles.

We'll update you on the outcome, but usually, this meeting gets accredited with 1-1.5 days.

Free child care at the LS2 Annual Meeting 2019!

Public Science Policy Session: Is merit (gender) biased? Advancement in academia.
In this session we would like to explore how gender biases influence the evaluation of merit and thereby the outcome of selection processes in academia and elsewhere and how these can be addressed. The chairwoman and panelists will each give a short talk, and this will be followed by a panel discussion.

As a participant of the conference, you'll find a stamp sheet in the meeting booklet. Prizes can only be won when the person is present during the prize draw at 4:30 pm on the 15th of February.
