Welcome Words from AM2027 Chairs

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the LS2 Annual Meeting 2027, hosted at the University of Lausanne. Our Annual Meeting brings together scientists from across the life sciences community represented by LS2, highlighting the excellence, diversity, and interdisciplinary nature of life science research conducted in Switzerland. The event provides a vibrant forum for researchers from a wide range of scientific backgrounds and countries to connect, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations, an essential element of LS2’s continued success.

This year's Annual Meeting is centred on the theme "Biological interactions: from molecules to organisms", highlighting the fundamental role of biological cross-talk across all levels of organization. By bringing together research spanning molecular mechanisms, cellular communication, tissue dynamics, and organismal biology, the meeting aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and advance our understanding of how interactions shape biological systems in health and disease.

The scientific committee is delighted to announce the participation of distinguished scientists as keynote speakers. We are thrilled to host three keynote lectures delivered by Prof. Felix Randow from the University of Cambridge (UK), Prof. Georg E. Winter from the AITHYRA Research Institute (AT), and Prof. Magdalena Götz from the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich (DE). These keynote lectures span a broad spectrum of cutting-edge research topics across multiple levels of biological organization, from non-protein ubiquitylation in immunity and organismal homeostasis, to the latest advances in chemical biology for cancer therapy, and the mechanisms governing brain plasticity.

The meeting will cover an exciting program with scientific symposia organized by the various LS2 sections and partners. This includes 15 invited speakers and over 40 speakers who will be selected based on their abstract submissions. As per tradition, the LS2 Annual Meeting will host the laureate talks by the recipients of the Friedrich Miescher Award, Prix Schläfli and the Lelio Orci Award. The meeting will also feature Young Scientists' Satellite, and PIs of Tomorrow competition. In addition, there will be two poster sessions and a large industry exhibition area to encourage scientific interactions.

LS2 Annual Meeting is the largest life science meeting in Switzerland, hosting an incredibly rich and broad scientific program. Fostering interaction among young and established scientists has always been a crucial aspect of the LS2 Annual Meetings. Therefore, we encourage you to join us in Lausanne for 2 ½ days of stimulating discussions and interactions

We also extend our sincere gratitude to all our sponsors and exhibitors, whose generous support has been instrumental in making the 2027 Annual Meeting possible. We encourage you to visit their exhibition booths and engage with their representatives to learn about the latest technological innovations, products, and services that are advancing biological research.

On behalf of the scientific committee and the entire meeting preparation team, we eagerly look forward to this meeting and hope to welcome many of you in Lausanne.

Sincerely,

Manuele Rebsamen & Rosa Chiara Paolicelli
