Young Scientists' Satellite
The Young Scientists' Satellite (YSS) 2022 will take place on 20th April 2022 as part of the LS2 Annual Meeting 2022.
It is organized by and for young scientists with the aim to promote networking between them and with internationally recognized experts and help young scientists in their career development. PhD students and early career postdocs will be given an opportunity to present their research with short talks in front of peers. Moreover, there will be a keynote lecture and a panel discussion.
In the third edition of the YSS, we want to approach questions such as:
- How to tackle the challenges of an international scientific career?
- How to successfully marry different fields of research to contribute to innovative but fundamental science?
- What is the most important skill to pursue a career in academia vs industry with an academic background?
- How to switch from classic research path to other roles?
- What is the difference between applying for job in academia vs non-academic roles?
To close the Satellite, there will be a Meet&Greet apéro with the speakers of the Satellite, plenary and symposia speakers of the LS2 Annual Meeting 2022. The attendance to the apéro is restricted to a limited number of participants (first come, first served). Be fast and register now!!
This year the YSS is organized and will be chaired by: Dr. Lalita Oparija-Rogenmozere (SNSF Early Postdoc.Mobility fellow), Ayokunle Araoyinbo (University of Lausanne), Dr. Natalia Zajac (University of Lausanne), Dotun Adeleye Adeyinka (University of Fribourg).
Chairs YSS 2022
Lalita Oparija-Rogenmozere currently working at the University of Basel. Lalita finished her PhD at the Institute of Physiology, UZH. Her work focused on phosphorylation as a regulatory mechanism for amino acid transporters in the small intestine. As an SNSF Early Postdoc.Mobility fellow she investigated food-driven responses and sex-specific differences in gene expression regulating nutrient intake and metabolism in digestive system.
Ayokunle Araoyinbo from University of Lausanne. Ayo is currently a PhD candidate at the centre for integrative genomics at the University of Lausanne. His doctoral research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of zygotic specification in fission yeast.
Natalia Zajac is currently a bioinformatician in the Functional Genomics Center Zurich, specialising on projects related to long read sequencing technologies. Natalia did her postdoc at the Department of Computational Biology and Center of Integrative Genomics, University of Lausanne, and her PhD at Department of Environment System Science at ETH Zurich and Eawag, Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. She worked in the field of comparative genomics and population genomics, understanding the genomic basis of adaptation of species and populations.
Dotun Adeleye Adeyinka is currently PhD student at the Department of Biology, University of Fribourg. His doctoral research focuses on the genetic control of neural stem cell states. Dotun is also a SNSF Doc.Mobility fellow at the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, (CDN) at Kings College, London, UK. He enjoys organizing events that brings people together to exchange ideas, foster opportunities, build networks and to communicate science to both scientific and non-scientific community
